Weatherization Technician (PT)

Summary/Objective:

The Weatherization Technician works as a part of the weatherization crew to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. This position performs direct services, including installing home weatherization materials, minor building repairs, repairs to stop cold air infiltration, and associated record keeping.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

● Install weatherization program measures such as window and door weather stripping, door sweeps, window, and door caulking, rim joist insulation, pipe insulation, door replacement, spray foam insulation, blower door guided air sealing, thermostat

● Conduct work in compliance with OSHA and CSC safety procedures as directed by the supervisor.

● Perform blower door and combustion efficiency testing.

● Handle job site clean-up.

● Install or repair windows and/or doors.

● Make minor structural repairs and carpentry work as required.

● Perform other installations or repairs as called for by the supervisor.

● Use hand tools or power tools in a prescribed, safe manner when installing

materials and repairing structures

● Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

● Familiarity with hand and power tools and a desire to learn weatherization techniques

● The position requires working in the dark, uncomfortable, and confined environments

● Must be able to maneuver through and work in constricted spaces.

● Requires basic knowledge of the construction of residential dwellings and housing types

● Good communication skills (verbal and written)

● Ability to count and tabulate accurately

● Ability to work patiently and courteously with customers

● Knowledge of Safe work practices

 

Education and Experience:

● 6 months to 1 year of Construction, Maintenance, Manual Labor, or equivalent educational training experience

● High School Diploma or Equivalent

● BPI certification, Weatherization Installer certification, and OSHA certification preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

The employee is required to move; bend, squat, twist, position above and below shoulder level, and ascend up and down.

Carpenter (PT)

Summary/Objective:

The Carpenter position, under direction, is capable of performing rough, finished, and general carpentry work; performs related work. This individual builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.

Duties/Responsibilities:

● Installs, repairs, and replaces flooring, partitions, window frames and sashes, door frames and doors, and other components of buildings and structures.

● Installs, repairs, and replaces boardwalks, fences, and screens.

● Builds and repairs tool boxes, movable and fixed sash, doors, and equipment.

● Builds and repairs decks and railings.

● Is familiar with, uses, and operates both hand and powered woodworking equipment.

● Builds and repairs buildings and outdoor structures

● Works from plans and sketches.

● Keeps job and other records.

● May supervise assigned personnel.

● Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

● Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co- workers

● Able to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines

● Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety

 

Education and Experience:

● High school diploma or equivalent

● 4 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry

● Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans, and other specifications

● Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as the ability to complete a company-specific safety orientation

 

Physical Requirements:

● Must be able to be in a stationary position at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods

● Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at a time
